Write For Us…Submit a Guest Post to Feeling Creative?
A Platform for Independent Artists, Writers, Photographers, Filmmakers and Musicians.
FEELING CREATIVE? is an independent creative digital magazine built for and by creative professionals. We accept guest posts, artist features and creator spotlights across art, photography, tattoos, writing, film, music and design. Free, always.
A note for businesses and brands: We're shifting our editorial focus exclusively toward independent creatives and the work they make. We're no longer accepting guest posts written on behalf of a business or brand. If your company is a great fit for our creative audience, we'd love to explore a sponsorship instead. It's a better fit for both of us. Learn more about working with us.
We do welcome articles from creatives who also happen to run a business or have built something useful for other creatives. What we're stepping away from is content submitted primarily to promote a brand or product rather than to share genuine creative experience.
Whether you found us searching for a creativity blog, a guest post opportunity, or an independent creative digital magazine, if you're a working creative, you're in the right place.
We believe the best insights come from people who are actively creating, and we want to hear from you.
What We're Looking For
We want to inspire creativity. We are looking for contributors who can provide in-depth, valuable, and creative content. The best articles go beyond the basics. For example:
Lived Experience: Share a story or lesson you learned the hard way.
Perspective: Don't just tell us facts; tell us what you think about them.
Process: Walk us through exactly how you’ve solved a problem in a project.
Bold Opinions: Don't be afraid to challenge common advice if you disagree.
Our goal is to publish content that helps other creatives level up their craft and career, and to help get your work out into the world.
Two Ways to Contribute
1. In-Depth Articles: This is for writers, strategists, and experts who want to share their knowledge or tell their stories in a detailed, long-form post.
· Topics: The topic can be anything, as long as it comes from a creative place. This includes art, photography, writing, film, music, design, tech, gear, the business of creativity, and creative history.
· Policy: We publish creative spotlights, personal stories, useful how-to content, and honest gear reviews from working creatives. For brand and sponsorship opportunities, visit our Work With Us page.
· Depth: According to the “experts”, the most successful articles are comprehensive and at least 1,200 words. This allows for a true deep-dive into a topic. This is not a rule, but more of a suggestion….1,200 seems like a lot, 600 is a good place to start. Please also include an “author’s bio”.
· Originality: We ask that all submissions are original and not published anywhere else, if possible.
· Our AI Policy: We get it, writing can be hard, but we want to hear YOUR voice. AI writing tools are great for research and outlines, but make it your own…please don’t just copy and paste an obvious AI article. We want articles that our readers will want to read, not a ChatGPT information dump. The goal of this site is to encourage creative people to create.
2. The "Creator Spotlight": This is perfect for visual artists…photographers, illustrators, 3D artists, filmmakers, performing artists and musicians, who want to showcase a specific piece of work without writing a full article.
To be featured in our Creator Spotlight, please submit the following:
· Your Work: An image, or images, or a link to a video or audio track.
· A Title for your piece or project.
· An Artist's Statement (150+ words): Tell us the story behind your work. What was your inspiration? What tools or techniques did you use? What challenges did you overcome?
· A Brief Bio about you and what you do.
What You Get in Return: the payoff
In return for your contribution, your post will include:
One “dofollow” link to your personal portfolio, website, or online store.
Links to your social media profiles.
Access to our “Creator Badges” to display on your own site/press page, which can link directly to your article.
And, we will also add your post to our bi-weekly newsletter and promote it across our social media channels.
Our Asks…
In return for publishing your article, we have a few favors to ask. We're building a real community here, not just a “link farm”. We'd love for you to join the newsletter and follow our socials so we can tag you when your article goes live. You are encouraged to share your article across your social media pages.
If you want to copy/re-post the article on your own blog or sites like Medium/Substack, you agree to wait at least 2 weeks to do so, and you agree to recognize this site as the “original source”. We ask that you add a simple line at the top or bottom of the article that says, "This article was originally published on FEELING CREATIVE?" with a link back to the original article here. This is the best SEO practice for both of our sites.
AND…Please help spread the word about FEELING CREATIVE? and invite your creative friends. The more we can grow this site, the better it is for everyone involved.
How to Submit
A quick heads up before you submit:
Publishing on Feeling Creative? is completely free. It always has been and always will be. If you've ever received an email from someone offering to sell you a guest post placement on our site, that's a “backlink broker”, a third party trying to make money by selling access they don't have. We don't work with these brokers and we don't sell placements. The only way to get published here is to reach out directly through the channels below. Free. Always.
Sounds cool, right? If you're ready to contribute, please contact us.
